30 DMC: Day 10

Day 10 – Favourite Rock Album

Rock Album Collage

There’s many types of rock that I like, so I picked up one for every genre that I listen to most. Though it’s not so easy to draw the line between different genres… I love 80s goth rock, so an album from Sisters of Mercy must be named, my favourite is “Vision Thing” (1990, re-issue 2006). You really should listen to the track called “When You Don’t See Me” or “Ribbons” or “Detonation Boulevard” or… Or the whole album. Also glam and sleaze rock always works for me. Post 80s sleaze rock is dominated by great Swedish bands like Hardcore Superstar, Vains of Jenna or Crashdiet. At the moment I prefer listening to Crashdiet’s “Generation Wild” (2010). In basic rock there would’ve been tons of options again, but I chose Red Hot Chili Peppers (also said to be funk rock) and their album “Stadium Arcadium” (2006). It took awhile until I understood the brilliance of that album, but have loved it ever since. You cannot get sick of it, the variety of songs is really versatile. Just listen to the songs like “Snow (Hey Oh)”, “Hard To Concentrate” or “Make You Feel Better”. And finally, there’s some alternative rock bands that I listen to, and wanted to mention one of them, too. That is Placebo’s “Battle for the Sun” (2009), and some of my favourite tracks are the title song “Battle for the Sun”, “Ashtray Heart” and “For What It’s Worth”, just amazing! Also check out Placebo’s “Sleeping With Ghosts” (2003).

Oh, there’s so much great music in the world!
